Nomenclatural notes
A thiotrichaceous genus, included here since it was considered a colourless chlorophycean. According to ING, this is a conserved name in the Bacteria and is not be affected by the Later Starting Point provision in Art. 13 (see also Art 45, Ex. 3). - (12 September 2016) - M.D. Guiry
Only two species were validly published and are current in modern literature: B. leptomitoformis and the type.
